its starts small

at brentwood ( my church here at home in virginia) the topic today was service. it was a great message and here are some key things i took away from it:

- it is our responsibility as a church family to lovingly serve one another.

- we are also part of the larger group of all humanity and we have the same calling to serve them with the same love and compassion we serve our church family with.

- there is this stigma that to make a difference for Christ in this world you have to do " big things," and we forget how much large the mission field is as we step outside of our front door.

-try this: the next time you are at mcdonalds or starbucks, buy the car or person behind you their order, or the next time you are at the airport, help someone with their bags.mow someone's grass, water the flowers, wash their car. it really doesnt matter how you serve and bless others, the only thing that matters is that you are serving and blessing someone. if your church family starts to do this, it will spread and most importantly the love of Christ will spread as well.

true love.

a few days ago a great friend of mine, andrew eppes introduced me to phil wickham. if you havent heard of phil wickham, you need to go to his website right now www.philwickham.com and download is FREE cd " Singalong." its amazing.period. these are the lyrics to one of the songs he plays on the cd, its called "true love." i was on my way back to virginia when this song came on my ipod and it is one of those songs that brought me to tears and ushered me into the presence of God in a car on some highway in south carolina. when i heard this song i couldnt help but worship the God of the universe.

"Come close listen to the story
About a love more faithful than the morning
The Father gave His only Son just to save us

The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt the Fathers Broken Heart
Tears were filling Heaven's Eyes
The day that True Love died,
the day that True Love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died,
The day that True Love died

Search your heart you know you can't deny it
Come on, lose your life just so you can find it
The Father gave His only Son just to save us

The Earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt The Fathers broken heart
Tears were filling Heaven's Eyes
The day that True Love died, the day that True Love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died, The day that True Love died

Now, Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Oh, He is alive
He rose again

When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died,
The day that True Love died."

this is a picture from when I got baptized. Therefor we have been buried with him through baptism into death so that as christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the father, so we too might walk in newness of life.Romans 6:4
